- Kurzbeschreibung: Foerderung fuer Forschungsprojekte, die neue hybride KI-Methoden und ML-Modelle entwickeln. Im Fokus stehen die Verbindung von lernenden Verfahren mit symbolischem Wissen, kausalen Modellen oder physikalischen Simulationen, die Entwicklung robuster, erklaerbarer und generalisierbarer Modelle, sowie die Verbesserung der Effizienz von Trainings- und Inferenzprozessen. Projekte sollen nachvollziehbare und reproduzierbare Ergebnisse liefern, inklusive neuartiger Benchmarks und Evaluierungen. Der Beitrag zu gesellschaftlich relevanten Fragestellungen oder globalen Problemen ist erwuenscht. Marginale Verbesserungen bestehender Methoden und reine Skalierung grosser Modelle werden nicht gefoerdert.

- Short description: Funding is available for research projects that develop new hybrid AI methods and ML models. The focus is on combining learning-based approaches with symbolic knowledge, causal models, or physical simulations; on developing robust, explainable, and generalizable models; and on improving the efficiency of training and inference processes. Projects should deliver transparent and reproducible results, including novel benchmarks and evaluations. Contributions to socially relevant questions or global challenges are welcome. Marginal improvements to existing methods and the mere scaling of large models will not be funded.
